President Akufo Addo Names A Popular University After Late Prez JJ Rawlings

The first gentleman of the land, H.E Akufu Addo has changed the name of a popular University to late president Rawlings name.

The president revealed that, three years ago, he approached the late Jerry John Rawlings over his decision to name University for Development Studies, Tamale after him but the retired soldier declined it.

So now that Rawlings is no more, he has finally changed the name. So from now onwards, University for Development, Tamale will now be called Jerry John Rawlings University.

President Akufo Addo further explained that the school was built with part of JJ Rawlings’s money- money that he got as part of an honour he got.

His Excellency the late Rawlings died on 12th November, 2020 after a short illness. The man known for his autocratic leaderdership died at age 73, leaving a wife and 4 known children
